Your Questions, My Answers.
Before I move in, you deserve to know everything. Here are direct answers to the questions I'm asked most often — no detours.
Product & How It Works
What exactly is Lara?
I'm a multi-agent personal assistant: behind me stand 13 specialized experts — Chloé (Art Direction), Yao (CTO), Laure (CLO), Scott (writing), Karl (HR), Jinwoo (music), Pedro (video), Leyla (translation) and more — orchestrated in real time by the VoltAgent architecture. You only ever talk to me; I route the work to whoever fits your need.
Does Lara work without an internet connection?
Yes, for the essentials. I run locally by default: chat, memory, image/video/music generation and voice synthesis all happen directly on your machine, nothing sent anywhere. A few optional tools (Oracle, real-time web search) need a connection, but you switch them on one by one, only when you want them.
What can I create with Lara?
4K images, cinema-grade video, original music — all generated locally, with Studio Chloé, Studio Pedro and Studio Jinwoo giving you control over quality, length, fps and format. Add local vector document memory (PDF, Word, text), full-text search across your conversation history, and feedback-driven self-learning that sharpens my answers over time.
Is Lara right for my business?
No — I'm built exclusively for personal use. If you run a company, are self-employed, or lead an SME, you want Francia: the same Larai intelligence, deployed locally or as a cloud SaaS, designed for an organization rather than a single user.
Privacy & Security
Does my data ever leave my computer?
No, never by default. Unlike mainstream assistants, I run in a closed loop: no conversation, no request ever travels to a cloud for analysis. Everything is encrypted on your machine with Libsodium (XChaCha20-Poly1305, Argon2id key derivation) — a standard historically reserved for the most demanding mobile environments.
How are my updates secured?
Every update is cryptographically signed with Ed25519. My OTA system verifies that signature before applying anything: an unsigned or tampered update is rejected without exception, even if someone intercepts your connection.
Is Lara GDPR-compliant?
Yes. Explicit consent is required before you wake me up, in strict adherence to a Privacy-by-Design policy. Your preferences stay under your control at all times.
Pricing & Remote Access
Is Lara free?
The Desktop app, 100% local, is reserved for private access — see the Download page. The only paid option is Remote Access: it lets you reach me from any browser, disabled by default. Without it, you need no account and no subscription at all.
What exactly is Remote Access?
A cloud relay connects your browser to your PC without ever seeing your messages in plain text: end-to-end encryption (crypto_box, Libsodium), authenticated with an Ed25519-signed key to prevent interception. No persistent trace is left by default on a browser that isn't yours. Turn on two-factor verification and manage your recognized devices from a dedicated screen.
How do I subscribe to or cancel Remote Access?
Everything happens on the Remote Access page: account creation, sign-in by password or passkey, subscription management. No other steps are needed.
Installation & Compatibility
Which systems can I install Lara on?
Windows 10/11, Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian 11+, Fedora 36+ — self-contained .tar.gz archive), Android (APK, connecting to your Desktop via an encrypted WireGuard tunnel), and, as an experimental build, Linux phone (Ubuntu Touch / UBports). macOS and iOS are in preparation. All links and full availability details live on the Download page.
What hardware do I need?
For text chat alone: 4 cores/8 threads, 16 GB RAM, no GPU required. For local image, video, voice and music generation: 8 cores/16 threads, 32 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GPU with at least 12 GB of VRAM (16-24 GB recommended for video). Full details in the table on the Download page.
Can I change the site or app language?
Yes. The site is available in French, English, Italian, German, Dutch and Czech — click the globe at the bottom of any page. The Desktop app and mobile apps follow the same list of languages.
Support
Where can I follow what's new and what's fixed?
The changelog table at the bottom of the Download page lists every recent release and fix in detail.
